Measuring daily face exposure using wearable cameras

Researcher(s): Dr. Ipek Oruc

You are invited to participate in a study evaluating your daily exposure to faces for factors such as size, gender, viewing distance, and angle. The study involves the use of a head-mounted camera that will take photographs at regular intervals in first-person view for 2 hours.

Why should you participate?

There are no immediate benefits to participating in this research. However, participation in the project will contribute towards furthering our understanding of the human brain, the complex neural mechanisms that encompass facial recognition, and the developmental pattern of these processes.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the final report, feel free to leave your email address, and we will contact you when the study is completed.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are 19 years of age or older
  • Have normal or corrected-to-normal vision (glasses/contact lenses)

You may not be eligible to participate if you:

  • Participants who, for any reason, are unable to wear the glasses will be excluded from the study.

Time commitment: 2 hours

Compensation for participation: $20

This study will take place at: ICORD/Blusson Spinal Cord Centre (818 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver)
