Dr. Andrei Krassioukov is an outstanding clinician-scholar in the field of autonomic dysfunction following spinal cord injury. Dr. Krassioukov, or “Dr. K” as he is affectionately known to patients, students and colleagues, chairs the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA), International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) and the International Autonomic Standards Committee.
He has received several awards for his research, including the 2009 Alan T. Brown Foundation Award from ASIA for his body of work in autonomic function following spinal cord injury. His research on cardiovascular control in spinal cord injured athletes during the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games received international media coverage and was recently recognized with special medals and certificates from Sir Philip Craven from the International Paralympic Committee and John Furlong from VANOC.
Dr. Andrei Krassioukov is a physiatrist with the Spinal Cord Program at GF Strong Rehab Centre and a researcher with the ICORD spinal cord research program at VCH Research Institute and UBC.
