Welcome to ICORD, home to over 600 researchers, clinicians, staff, trainees, and volunteers who collectively seek to make spinal cord injury preventable, curable, and livable. We represent 21 different departments and schools at UBC, SFU, and the University of Victoria, reflecting the multi-disciplinary nature of spinal cord injury research. ICORD research spans the continuum from cells to community; we investigate nerve regeneration in the laboratory all the way to the role of exercise training in people living with SCI in the community.

Many of us are housed in the beautiful Blusson Spinal Cord Centre on the Vancouver General Hospital campus, one of the only such standalone buildings in the world that was constructed specifically to house scientists and clinicians involved in SCI care and research. As a UBC Faculty of Medicine Centre, we are blessed to have strong partnerships with entities such as the Rick Hansen Foundation, the Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, and SCI-BC. Our ICORD researchers and clinicians are performing cutting edge research that is impacting the lives of those living with SCI, whilst engaging those living with SCI in the research enterprise. I invite you to explore the many areas of this website to learn more of the exciting work happening at ICORD, and to join us in our efforts to improve the lives of those with SCI.
