Congratulations to ICORD trainee Jacquelyn Cragg and her colleagues Dr. Vanessa Noonan and ICORD PIs Drs. Andrei Krassioukov, and Jaimie Borisoff, for winning the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Apple Award for excellence in publishing in spinal cord injury (SCI) research!

Their winning paper is titled “Cardiovascular disease and spinal cord injury: results from a national population health survey” and was published in Neurology last August.  This award-winning review paper evaluates the connection between cardiovascular disease and spinal cord injury in a population of over 60 000 individuals. A full copy of the paper is available for reading here.

Jacquelyn Cragg is a UBC PhD (Population and Public Health) student of ICORD PI Dr. Jaimie Borisoff. As an epidemiologist, she focuses her research on applications of longitudinal analysis to neurological disorders, such as spinal cord injury and Parkinson’s disease, with the hopes of translating her findings to a better understanding of how neurological disorders progress. With already over 15 peer-reviewed articles and publications in other leading journals such as Brain, Experimental Neurology, Annals of Neurology, and Journal of Neuroscience, we can look forward to seeing more publications from her in the near future!
