Dr. Brian Kwon
Congratulations to ICORD PI Dr. Brian Kwon, who was recently chosen by the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation as the recipient of the J. Edouard Samson Award. This award recognizes the body of research in spinal cord injury that he has done over the past 5 years, which he entitled Bench to Bedside and Back: Translational Research in Acute Spinal Cord Injury.
The premier award for orthopaedic research in Canada, the $15,000 J. Edouard Samson Award recognizes the best career orthopaedic research over a period of five years or more at a Canadian centre, and is intended to promote further research by the recipient.
Dr. Kwon acknowledges the tremendous team effort that went into receiving this honour, with instrumental support from his colleagues at ICORD, the Vancouver Spine Program and Vancouver Spine Surgery Institute, the Rick Hansen Institute, the Rick Hansen Foundation, the VCH Research Institute, and the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.
