Investigating the Peer Mentor-Mentee Relationship

This study will investigate the role that peer mentorship plays in supporting people with a SCI and promoting social participation. Participants will be asked to complete a 20-minute survey asking them to list characteristics of effective and ineffective peer mentors in different settings, as well as characteristics that should be considered when matching a peer mentor with a mentee.

Why should you participate in this study?
Participating in this study will help to provide insight into ways that SCI peer mentorship programs through SCI Alberta, SCI Ontario and SCI BC can be improved in both hospital and community-based settings.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • are 18 years or age or older
  • speak and understand English
  • have an SCI
  • are apeer mentor or a mentee within SCI Ontario, SCI BC or SCI Alberta

Time commitment: the online survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Compensation for participation: For completing the survey, participants will receive a $10 gift card to the retailer of their choice (i.e. Tim Hortons).
